Louis Edet Otioro aka 36 States is an incredibly versatile French-Nigerian artist influenced by the kind of Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Jimmy Cliff and Shaba Ranks.
He is a full – round artist: writer, composer, singer and performer always looking for new sounds between modernity and tradition, Europe and Africa.
His artistic name is a reference to his native country, Nigeria that is a confederation of 36 states which he almost travelled all in his youth with his mother.
His nomadic style of life between France, UK and various African countries, illustrates his musical influences.
His years spend in Paris were full of musical collaborations with French artists and indeed he sings in both English and French.
Unveiling his latest single “Run come” is a brand new AfroPop song wrote and interpreted by 36 States and Nigerian artist Pelli which comes as as his debut track under his new management Pana Musiq.
It is a love song performed in English and French to add romance to the already romantic theme. Indeed, the lyrics narrate of a woman for whom the artist would give his life and he can’t stop comparing her systematically and ironically to all the beautiful events that can happen in the life of a man.
All this narrative is supported by a very danceable beat produced by Nigerian master Orbeat.
