Kenya has a small number of females in the hip-hop industry, this worsens when you shift your attention to the gospel sector which has even fewer female rappers and the newly landed Babra Kamau , famously known as Babra, is one of the few aiming to change the game and up the level of greatness.
Based in capital Nairobi, Kenya her aim is to bring change in the hip-hop industry, especially the female market as she not only want to appeal to the women of hip-hop, but to preach the gospel as well.
Her music will not only make you remember her as a rapper, not just a ‘female’ rapper, but rather someone who is talented at what she does.
With music in her blood Babra did a gospel rendition of the hiphop dance hit “Hit the Quan” by iHeartMemphis dubbed “Praise the Lord” but it’s until recently that she started her professional musical journey.
She has debuted with her first track titled “One Hundred” a gospel trap song that she composed to express how we ought to serve God.
Doing gospel music, she has set her focus on the way she want her lyrics to touch people, Babra maintains a positive image while telling stories that people can relate to and be inspired in the process.
“One Hundred” incorporates the voice of another young raising star by the name Y.E and these two immensely deliver as a team.
Produced by Cahwe Royalty Studios the newly released single comes with an awesome hiphop video and this compliments the whole song as it is painted with gangster-gospel colours and directed by Tyson.
