Mdundo music app hits 1 million installs since its official launch in 2016. The East African leading music app first launched in Kenya and is currently being used in up to 10 African countries as well as in the diaspora.

Mdundo app was designed for users to stream music from their favourite artists as well as DJ mixes. The app users are able to follow their favourite artists and playlists for updates and new releases. It also allows users to enjoy curated playlists as well as their own custom made playlists. The music app is lightweight, taking up a 2.6 Mbs storage space on the user’s smartphone resulting to minimal data usage.

Mdundo CEO, Martin Nielsen says: “We’ve been very impressed about the popularity of our android app since we launched it last year. Our users like the offline functionality and the ability to engage and share music with Facebook friends. We are streaming millions of songs every month and even though our website is still bigger than our app we do see a shift towards the app. We constantly update and improve our app to deliver a unique music experience to our customers and we are very happy that so many people like and install our app – this is a great milestone for us and African music.”

Mdundo app’s music consumption experience has been significant as reflected on the app’s current rating of 4.2/5 stars. Since the launch of the app, user comments and reviews mainly describe the app as being “easy to use” as well as the app having “great music”.

A user commented on the reviews section: “It’s cool for those who love to listen to music because you can listen to your favorite music offline while doing other stuff on your phone.”

With ongoing updates to improve the app’s usability, variety of content and its design in the coming months, Mdundo looks forward to hitting new markets in Africa and beyond.
