Introducing Bany | Kenyan-Congolese Singer Debuts His Solo Career After A Year Of Gigging With A Band

Bany a stage name derived from his real name Bigomokero Banyabo Blaise is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and dancer.

Born and raised in the Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, came to Kenya in 2008 to study. Graduated with a Bachelor in Business Information Technology from Strathmore University and with a Master in Business Administration in Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

His passion for music was evident at a tender age, as has been singing and dancing from church choir to school shows and this is where he developed love for music. However, it was not until his the last year of his secondary schooling life when he learned his first guitar chords that he was determined to make a career out of it.

Formed a boy band with the closest of his friends in high school but that did not survive the strong waves of separation, because straight after high school, he was on his way to Kenya for further his studies.

Being in a completely new musical ground, it took him time to settle his music until he landed a contract at Kengele’s in Lavington Nairobi for a band night every month for more than a year. With his band called “Bany And Band”, they have been doing different gigs from weddings, festivals to performing at Godown Arts Centre, Club Choices and many more.

Life seemed smooth but Bany was had not quenched his musical thirst. After some time, he felt the need to grow his brand and that is how he quit the train of doing band nights and decides to go back in studio, write and release songs.

Bany has embarked on a career that has little to do with what he went to school for- Music. Armed with a dream, a vision, determination and talent, he enters the music industry with his debut single that he released a video to, titled “Nikupe Mapenzi”.

“Nikupe Mapenzi” a Swahili phrase meaning I give you love, is a love song that he wrote and sang, produced by renowned sound engineer MG and directed by Mushking.
